The Denver Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers 28-20 and improve to 8-1.
The Broncos were up 21-6 at half time and it looked like they were going to run away with the game. The Chargers’ defense looked like a team that was afraid to tackle anyone and was giving up chunks of yardage at a time. They were able to tighten up and only allowed a touchdown in the second half all the while still getting gashed by Manning.
What doomed the Chargers is that they settled for 3 field goals in the red zone and ended up missing one of them. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you it’s impossible to beat Manning with field goals.
For a brief moment (very, very brief) it looked like the Chargers would have the chance to pull of the improbable comeback. However when the team punted the ball to the Broncos with 3 minutes left in the game, the team never got the ball back.
Hey at least they didn’t lose a 24-point lead. That’s improvement.
