Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes signed his franchise tender on Tuesday, which will pay him $10.431 million this coming season.
Grimes missed one day of voluntary workouts, but it just so happens that earlier today the Falcons were reportedly working on acquiring Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel. Which looks like it may have prompted Grimes to sign his tender.
Even though Grimes is now under contract for 2012, the Falcons are still trying to bring in Samuel. The only hang up is that he doesn’t want to take a big pay cut.
In the end, whether or not the Falcons land Samuel, Grimes is one of the most underrated corners in the NFL.
