Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is frustrated after being suspended for one game by the NFL for his illegal hit on Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall last week.
“If anybody go look at the tape, I didn’t use my head in any of the hits. I’m moving on from it,” said Meriweather via Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington D.C.
Meriweather says he’ll now have to hit low and “end careers.”
“To be honest, you’ve just got to go low now..You gotta end people’s career. You gotta tear people’s ACL’s,” he said. “You gotta tear peoples ACL’s . Mess up people’s knees. You can’t him them high anymore. You’ve just got to go low.”
Meriweather clearly feels like he can’t win this battle.
“They told me to use my shoulder. I use my shoulder. I still get fined. They still say I use my head,” Meriweather said.
The problem with Meriweather and most NFL players is that they don’t know how to properly tackle. They feel like launching themselves and leading with their shoulder or head is acceptable. It’s not.
The proper way to take is to hit someone in their mid-section and wrap and drive them to the ground.
