Chicago Bears didn’t have many options at receivers last year except for Brandon Marshall.
Marshall claims that the fact he was the only viable option for receiver last year led to him needing hip surgery.
It was tough sledding last year,” Marshall said, via ESPNChicago.com. “I think that’s why I had to have the [hip] surgery. I had 2-3 guys on me every single play, but bringing in big boy Martellus, I don’t think the league really knows how good he is. I didn’t know, and that was one of my great friends in the league. So I’m excited to see him, he’s going to be awesome this year for us.”
Who knows if that had anything to do with his injuries but here’s a stat to drive home the point Marshall is trying to make regarding the lack of receivrs last year. Marshall accumulated 1,508 yards on 118 receptions; coming in at a distant second is Earl Bennett with 375 yards on 29 receptions. To say the Bears needed a second option at receiver last year would of been a huge understatement.
