Bills won’t guarantee that Ryan Fitzpatrick will be on their roster when the season begins

According to the Buffalo News, Bills President Russ Brandon wouldn’t comment when asked if quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will be on their roster next month when he’s due a $3 million bonus.  He also said the Bills haven’t spoken with Fitzpatrick about restructuring his contract.

Asked about whether Fitzpatrick’s spot on the roster is safe, Brandon said that will be determined by General Manager Buddy Nix and head coach Doug Marrone.

“The main thing there is we’re continuing to evaluate, and that’s more in line with how Buddy and Doug come out on that,” Brandon said. “We’re looking at everything and evaluating every aspect of the organization.

“I’m evaluating the organization from top to bottom. Those guys are evaluating the roster. We’ll see where that goes.”

It would be great if the Bills could keep Fitzpatrick on their roster as a back up, but it may not make sense from a financial stand point.
