Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher told Newsday that he plans on coaching in the NFL again some day and that he’s not worried about coming back after such a long hiatus.
“It would be a challenge,” he said of the layoff since he last coached, “but I think that’s probably why I would get back into it, because of the challenge.”
Cowher was asked if he plans on coaching again
“Yeah,” he said.
Cowher was then asked if he’s been tempted by any current NFL openings and if any teams have contacted him
“No, no, no, no,” replied Cowher. “Hey, we have the Super Bowl. All these coaches are trying to get there. I know I’m going to be there.”
Cowher doesn’t believe his long layoff will be a problem when he comes back.
“I did it for 27 years,” he said. “You don’t just forget things overnight. One thing about this job is it’s been really good because it allows me to study the game and do features on the game . . . It’s not like I’m out of it. I know how the game is changing.”
