The Chicago Bears have announced that they have signed second round pick Alshon Jeffery to a four-year contract.
Jeffery was just drafted by the Bears last Friday. The reason he’s been signed so quickly is because of the rookie wage scale which essentially slots each draft pick with a specific salary. Now of course there are different ways to negotiate the contract, but it still speeds up things quite a bit.
I’m sure Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is happy to have one of his new targets locked up to a deal already. They can now start working together to make sure they’re on the same page for the upcoming season.
