Bears, Matt Forte will start talking conract this weekend

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Chicago Bears and  running back Matt Forte’s representatives will begin working on getting a new contract worked out this weekend at the NFL scouting combine.

Forte will become a free agent next month and if the Bears are unable to get a long-term deal finalized with him, he’ll likely receive the franchise tag in order to keep him from hitting the open market and signing with another team.

If Forte is franchised, he’ll likely make $7.7 million in 2012.
