According to the Associated Press, San Jose uthorities have obtained an arrest warrant for 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks after he allegedly hit teammate Lamar Divens in the head with a beer bottle three times and then punched him in the face.
It was not immediately clear whether the warrant had been served. It was signed by a judge on Thursday.
Police statements accompanying the warrant application allege Brooks hit Divens with a beer bottle three times and then punched him in the face during an argument over car keys, causing a 3-inch laceration to his forehead. The alleged incident occurred in front of Brooks’ home early on June 8.
Investigators were told Brooks was intoxicated and had threatened to get a gun.
A person who picked up the phone at a listing for Brooks referred comment to the 49ers.
The 49ers released a statement earlier today to acknowledge their awareness of the situation.
