Doesn’t look like defensive back Asante Samuel is going to be in Atlanta for more than a year.
Samuel was benched for Sunday’s win versus the Green Bay Packers in favor of rookie Robert Alford. And though he’s listed as the starter on the team’s official depth chart, considering the team has been eliminated from playoff contention, the team will want to give Alford some experience in the last three games.
Then when Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com asked Samuel about his future with the Falcons, Samuel said “We’ll see how it goes. I don’t know.”
Samuel is owed $5.125 million next year which makes it hard for the Falcons to trade him. He only has one interception this season but 51 in his 11-year career.
