With New England Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib scheduled to become a free agent in March, and says he’s enjoyed playing for the Patriots and is ready to see what the future holds.
“I’m not really worried about all that right now,” he said Monday. “Like you said, the game was 12 hours ago. I’m in the training room with the guys, we’re having fun right now. I’m still a Patriot. Free agency doesn’t start ’til March, so until then I’m still a Patriot and just enjoying my time.”
Asked if it was his preference to return to the team, the 26-year-old replied, “That’s the business side of the business. I definitely enjoyed being a Patriot.”
He echoed that the short time he spent with the team was among the most enjoyable stretches of his NFL career.
“Man, I had a lot of fun here man,” he said. “Definitely enjoyed my time here, we’ll see what happens in the future, but I definitely had the most fun I’ve had playing football in a long time here.”
Talib was a great addition to the Patriots’ roster, but we still don’t know if the Patriots want to re-sign him. If they can work out a fair contract, it would be wise to make sure Talib is back next season.
