Antrel Rolle cleared for contact, Kenny Phillips says he’s playing this week

Even though safety Stevie Brown has been playing great this season, it looks like he’ll have to give up his starting job with Kenny Phillips now getting healthy.

Phillips told the media today that he’ll be ready to go for Sunday’s game against the Steelers.

I expect Brown to start this week since the Giants will likely gradually bring Phillips back in the fold.

After suffering a concussion against the Cowboys, Giants safety Antrel Rolle returned to practice today after being cleared by the Giants’ team doctors.

The Giants full practice report below was provided by Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

DID NOT PRACTICE: LB Jacquian Williams (knee), LB Chase Blackburn (hamstring), TE Bear Pascoe (ankle).

LIMITED: C David Baas (ankle/elbow), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), S Kenny Phillips (knee), LB Keith Rivers (calf), S Antrel Rolle (concussion).

FULL: WR Victor Cruz (calf), DT Rocky Bernard (quad).
