Pierce, who now works for ESPN, sat down with Rachel Nichols and gave his thoughts on the Saints bounty scandal and talked about his time with Williams.
After listening to the audio of Williams’ pregame speech that was leaked, it reminded Pierce of when he played for the Redskins.
“It took me back to 2004, honestly. I know the tone. That was Gregg Williams. I love him for it. I loved his approach to the game. If I had to play for him today, I would, no problem,” said Pierce.
Pierce admitted that Williams went too far when he talked about trying to take out both Kyle Williams and Michael Crabtree of the San Francisco 49ers prior to January’s divisional playoff game.
Pierce was also asked if he was ever involved in any bounty programs and he slightly paused for a moment and denied any such thing. But he did say money would often be exchanged for big plays, on the teams he was a part of. He was asked how much money would be handed over and he said “thousands.”Follow PFZ on Twitter @ProFootballZone
