Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer told the Dallas Morning News that he laid down for up to 17 hours a day for five months straight as he rested his knee.
“I laid down for about 16, 17 hours every day,” Spencer said.
The Cowboys are hoping Spencer won’t start the season on the physically unable to perform list, but they won’t be surprised if he does.
“We’re eyes wide open on this,” said Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones. “I won’t be totally surprised if he starts the season on PUP. Anthony thinks he might be back. I hope he does. We came into this knowing that he could be a PUP guy.”
