The San Francisco 49ers announced that they placed fullback Bruce Miller on injured reserved and signed fullback Will Tukuafu to a two-year deal.
Miller (6-2, 248) played in 14 games (13 starts) this season, registering single-season career-highs with 25 receptions for 243 yards. He also tallied seven carries for 13 yards.
Since being drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round (211th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft, Miller has played in 45 games (34 starts), totaling 16 carries for 39 yards, and 48 receptions for 410 yards and 1 touchdown.
Tukuafu (6-4, 293) was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Seattle Seahawks on June 8, 2010, but was released soon after that on June 22. He was later signed by the 49ers on August 12, 2010. Tukuafu spent the majority of the 2010 season on San Francisco’s practice squad before being promoted to the active roster on December 18, 2010. Over the next two seasons, Tukuafu played in 18 games and recorded 15 tackles and one fumble recovery. He also appeared on special teams and offense.
