Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman believes that either Johnny Manziel or Robert Griffin III will end up backing up Tony Romo in Dallas next season.
“I believe, as I sit here today, either Johnny Manziel or Robert Griffin III will be in Dallas as a backup,” Aikman told SI.com.
Manziel is expected to be cut this offseason after continuing to show that he hasn’t matured and is still partying his life and possibly his NFL career away.
The only reason Manziel could end up with the Cowboys is because of how intrigued owner Jerry Jones is with his talent. It’s been well documented that Jones wanted to draft him when he came out of Texas A&M a few years ago.
When it comes to Griffin, the Redskins are expected to release him as well since he’s scheduled to make over $16 million with Washington in 2016.
There’s simply no way the Redskins will keep RG3 and choose to pay him so much money when Kirk Cousins is clearly their starter going forward.
The reason the Cowboys need Manziel or RG3 is because year after year it seems like Romo continues to get hurt and Dallas never has a back up that can pick up where he left off.
