Tom Coughlin says he has “something to prove” next season

According to Giants HC Tom Coughlin he still is passionate about the game and has no plans to walk away just yet. However if he doesn’t turn things around with the Giants soon he may not have a choice.

“Sure, absolutely,” Coughlin said regarding whether he still has a passion for the job, via Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.  “I mean, probably even more because there are a lot of those that are telling you that you didn’t do very well and you’re not a very good coach and you’re not this and you’re not that, so perhaps you have something to prove.”

Sure Coughlin has 2 Super Bowl victories an accomplishment that has only been achieved by two other active NFL head coaches (Shanahan and Belichick (3)) but the NFL is a “what have you done for me lately” kind of league and lately Coughlin has missed the playoffs 4 of the last five seasons. If he doesn’t turn it around he will be with a new team sooner rather than later.
