Chicago Bears wide receiver Johnny Knox doesn’t have a timetable for his return to the field after undergoing surgery to stabilize a vertebra in his back, after suffering a serious back injury last season.
“I’m just taking it day by day,” said Knox, per ESPN.com. “No rush. Like I’ve said, rehab is going well. I’m not trying to rush things and mess things up any worse, so I’m just taking it day by day.”
Knox acknowledges that he has a lot of work to do before he gets back on the field.
“There’s still a ways to go,” Knox said. “Just get stronger, that’s my main goal right now. No rush. I’m going by what the trainers and the doctors say and that’s what I’m going to go by.”
Right now I wouldn’t expect Knox to play at all this season. My guess is that he’ll be aiming to return in 2013.
