Our players to watch segment now takes a look at the NFC South
Atlanta Falcons: Peter Konz C- This will be Konz first season as the full time center as he replaces veteran Todd McClure. The second rounder was the Falcons first pick in 2012 and started 10 games at right guard last year. In his starts he showed flashes of that great technique that Wisconsin Offensive Lineman are known for. Look for him to make a big impact this season.
Carolina Panthers: Armanti Edwards WR- Edwards was a third round pick in 2010 out of Appalachian State and has had to make the transition from college QB to NFL wide receiver. The transition hasn’t exactly been smooth. Edwards only has 5 career catches. With an aging Steve Smith and lack of standout WR talent the Panthers would love to see Edwards step up.
New Orleans Saints: Akiem Hicks DL- Hicks is another versatile Defensive Lineman that is ready to make an impact in his second season. Hicks shot up draft boards in 2012 and went from a virtual unknown to being the Saints first pick (3rd round 89th overall). Look for Hicks (6′-5″ 323lb) to play both zero and five technique under Rob Ryan.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Luke Stocker TE- Stocker was a fourth round pick in 2011 and has amassed only 28 receptions in his short career. This year however it looks as though Stocker will be given the reigns as the teams starting TE as he replaces consistent veteran Dallas Clark. Look for Stocker to be used on short to intermediate routes to compliment the Doug Martin led offense.
