According to the Akron Beason-Journal. rookie cornerback Justin Gilbert will have every oppuruntiy to win a starting job with the Browns.
So far, incumbent starter Buster Skrine has worked with the first unit, and he will fight to delay Gilbert’s inevitable promotion. Still, O’Neil has conceded the obvious — Gilbert will “get every opportunity to win” the No. 2 cornerback job, which would force Skrine into a nickel corner role.
Even if Skrine is starting over Gilbert when week one rolls around, don’t be surprised if Gilbert takes the number two corner spot form him during the season.
