An unfortunate trend in Green Bay in recent years is spinal fusion surgery. The latest victim of the trend is DL Johnny Jolly who is scheduled to become a free agent in a couple of weeks.
Johnny Jolly’s agent Jack Bechta said, via ESPN.com, Thursday that his client had fusion surgery to repair a bulging disc in his neck over a month ago. Jolly’s 2013 season ended when he was placed on injured reserve in December with a neck injury.-ProFootballTalk.com
It’s never a good time for spinal fusion surgery but the timing is especially bad for Jolly considering his impending free agency. Jolly has an MRI scheduled for March 11th, coincidentally the day free agency begins, to receive his prognosis.
