Jerry Jones won’t comment on Ratliff’s release, calls it a “legal matter”

Jerry Jones signed DT Jay Ratliff to a contract that included $18 million dollars in 2011. Jones cut ties with Ratliff on Wednesday but would not comment on the release stating a legal matter.

Jones said Thursday that he isn’t at liberty to comment on Ratliff’s release because of “differences of opinion” about the player’s injury situation. “This has now become a legal” matter, Jones said, according to The Dallas Morning News.-NFL.com

Interesting statement by Jones considering there have been no reports of any grievances being filed. Ratliff was once a terror in the middle of a Dallas’s 2-gap 3-4 defense, but after he was slowed up by injuries and the Cowboys changed defensive schemes they decided that keeping Ratliff around wasn’t in the team’s best interests.
