Jason Garrett says he wants the offense to be more balanced

In Dallas’s 27-23 victory over the Vikings they ran the ball less than they ever have. Ever. Nearly 90% of their offensive snaps were passes. Jason Garrett says that there needs to be better balance.

“You’d certainly like to have more balance than that, obviously,” coach Jason Garrett said, via ESPNDallas.com. “We’ll keep striving for that. We did run the ball a little bit fairly well early on. DeMarco looked like he was going to have a good day, but as it wore on there were some minus runs that happened that got us behind the sticks a little bit. Hard for us to get into a rhythm.”-ProFootballTalk.com

Garrett’s Cowboys have always been more apt to throwing the football than running it but this type of balance is unlikely to work very well even as offenses tend toward the passing game. As Demarco Murray’s health improves so to should Dallas’s running game.

He keeps saying he wants to run more, but we never do! Here’s Demarco Murrays stats for Sunday’s Vikings game: 4 carries for 31 yards (7.8/per carry)!!! 4 carries for 7.8 yards per carry!!! What more do we want? 15 yards per carry? Come on! Commit to running the ball. It doesn’t work every play, but you have to commit to it.
