ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday that former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has reached out to the San Francisco 49ers now that they have a coaching vacancy after firing Jim Tomsula on Sunday night.
Chip Kelly’s camp has reached out to 49ers to express interest in their HC opening, per league source. 49ers likely to at least consider it.

Kelly has made it clear that he wants to coach in the NFL instead of going back to the college game where he helped Oregon become a national powerhouse.
The biggest problem with Kelly is that he alienated people within the Eagles organization and failed to treat his players with respect. If he’s going to stick around in the NFL, he’ll have to convince an organization that he won’t repeat what happened in Philly.
Another decision the 49ers will have to make this offseason is whether they’re going to keep quarterback Colin Kaepernick. You have to imagine that Kelly’s spread offense could be a good fit for him after he struggled under Tomsula this season.
