Bruce Arians says that the Cardinals aren’t interested in drafting a QB

The Arizona Cardinals had a fairly successful season, just missing the playoffs. They played well enough to be slotted with the 20th overall pick, a place many felt they could land a QB. HC Bruce Arians says to hold the phone on that talk.

“We’ve got two pretty good ones that are younger [Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley]. For us right now it’s about winning a championship,” Arians said, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. “I don’t think we can afford to have a guy come in like that. I’m not a believer in a guy learning anything sitting on the bench. You have to play; it’s the only way you learn. He’s got to get the reps in practice, be under center and throwing all the time.”

Carson Palmer is 34 and signed through the upcoming season with a team option foe 2015 so while QB is not an immediate need it is one that is on the horizon. It makes sense that Arians wants to win with the core he has in place. Then again this could all be a smokescreen.
