Bruce Arians: Patrick Peterson “could be one of the top five receivers in the league”

We knew that Patrick Peterson was being used in offensive sets because HC Bruce Arians liked his athletic ability but Arians took a step further, telling Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic via LarryBrownSports.com

“I had hopes that he could be something special in a package a week, but after you see the athlete he is, it’s like the guy could be one of the top five receivers in the league,” Arians said “So, you say, ‘Hmmm, that’s a lot of weapons sitting over here next to me.”- August 7th

Although I believe that Peterson will be used in Offensive sets I find it hard to believe he will be used in the volume that Arians is leading us to believe. Peterson’s best positions are on special teams and defense and I doubt that Arians will put his playmaking skills in jeopardy by spreading him too thin. As we have seen, when a returner is moved to a receiver position on offense it often hurts their return ability. Devin Hester is a recent example.
