The injury of Colts WR Reggie Wayne was not only painful to Wayne but also to Andrew Luck and the Colts offense. Without Wayne a significant portion of the Colts offensive production was lost. Wayne is optimistic that the threat he offers will not only return in 2014, but will be even more dangerous than he was before his injury.
Wayne says that his knee feels “great” and that rehab is “so far, so good,” which has left him with an optimistic view about how things will go once he is back on the field.
“I can tell you that Reggie Wayne, as I’m speaking in the third person, has never lacked confidence,” Wayne said, via the Indianapolis Star. “I’m very, very, very confident I will come back better than I was. One thing about this time: It was an opportunity for my body to heal up a little bit so hopefully I stole a year. We’ll go from there.”-ProFootballTalk.com
As we have seen with players like Adrian Peterson that it is possible for players to return even stronger from injury, but some players such as RGIII and the NBA’s Derrick Rose, some players don’t make as smooth a recovery immediately. At 35 Wayne is fighting an uphill battle in his recovery. Wayne is a leader though and will work hard to make his comeback a reality.
